SPECIFIC SITUATIONS BEHAVIOR/SIGNS GENERAL SUPPORTIVE ACTIONS
General threat of terrorist attack
Members express concern over their safety
Concern over safety of family members
Depression/anxiety
Post-traumatic stress disorder (later time frame)
Keep to your normal routine
Advise limited exposure to the news media--overexposure to news reporting heighten anxiety
Encourage members to share their concerns with others
Provide clear and consistent information on the topic, when appropriate
Encourage members to take time out for themselves
Encourage members to engage in recommended protective behaviors
Ensure members have access to national preparation recommendations
Take steps to minimize rumors or the spread of inaccurate information
Be aware of individuals or groups of individuals with severe reactions

Fear/panic
Confusion over task roles
Remain calm
Determine if all members and their families are accounted for
Evaluate immediate (or "critical") needs of  members and their families
Engage peer support
Keep members informed of changing circumstances
Assure individuals receive needed medical/emotional support
Provide work relief/rotations to prevent exhaustion
